I started this blog to chronicle our Army escapades is 2009. Today we are happily living the civilian life again and thriving in a small town in Northern Illinois. Look in from time to time to see what life in this sleepy town is throwing our way.

Death in the Family
This morning we woke to find our dear Nikka dead in the laundry room. She had been acting off the last two days but we couldn't get her into the vet until this morning. Jake and I dug a small grave in the backyard and we brought the kids out and explained to them that the kitty had died during the night and we had to bury her. Thor was non-plusesed and decided he didn't want to watch. Baleigh on the other hand burst into tears and has been crying off and on since the funeral. This is the first time that the kids have been faced with death and they are both handling it so very differently. Its so much harder being the grown up in this situation and having to deal with the details of death. We are now a family of 5.
